Interview with Jackman Jones

When did you start spinning, and where?
I started spinning a decade ago, NYE 2009/2010 at a house party.
How do you see the year 2020 in front of you? What do you hope for? And why do you hope for that?
2020 for me will see my podcast The Groove Station reach bigger heights. Also I will be spinning at the first ever Toronto House Music Festival. I will also be releasing new tracks this year and I hope to be spinning at various festivals, clubs, and events in the coming years. Also meeting and collaberating with more DJs and producers.
Do you produce … which tracks … … and are you currently working on tracks?
Yes I do. I have 7 tracks currently which you can find here: https://soundcloud.com/jackmanjones2018/tracks
They are all available on all digital platforms, excluding the first one I did called Lifting Me Higher which you can download exclusively on soundcloud.
I have 3 tracks in post production and I’m working on two more.
And with which labels did you release the tracks?
Metum Digital and Animated Groove. My two latest releases, Bounce To This ft Chris Hercules and Deeper will be on Pure Beats Records and will be coming out in March.
Lately DJs who are struggling with “DJ life” have recently been discussed. How do you keep the balance between career and “private”? What works well for you and why?
Well, I don’t drink and I don’t do drugs. I keep my mind focused on one thing:
The Music!!! I don’t get caught up the social media drama or rumors. My goals is to create music and bring great music to the masses. I keep my private life private. It’s all about focusing on the bigger picture!!!
And finally: Is there anything else you hope to achieve in the coming years? Or can you already name something that you are proud of?
I hope to be playing outside of Toronto and around the world. I want to be a DJ that tours the world and also play in clubs and festivals. I also want to be creating more music and help house music evolve!!!
My biggest achievement was playing in front of 800 people. I want to exceed that number!!
